What new tablet should I get?

I need a new Tablet.

I am stuck between the Nexus 9, iPad Air, and the Nvidia Sheild.
My Galaxy S4 recently broke so this will be the device I will be using until the S6 is released.
Any suggestions/recommendations will be appreciated.

Welcome to Android Central! Those devices are pretty different, so it would help to know what's important to you in a tablet. Nexus 9 is pure Google, so minimal bloatware, prompt updates. But I've read of various issues with the build quality. iPad Air is obviously iOS, so do you like that platform? It will obviously give you a smooth user experience with lots of high quality apps, but without the flexibility that Android offers. The Shield is a 7" tablet, and is aimed at gamers--it's an impressive device, but a little bulky.
