Phone keeps making USB Connect / Disconnect noise when plugged into PC

Just recently my phone started making the USB connection sounds when plugging into my PC, but it's making the sound over and over again which is obviously really annoying. Every 10-20 seconds, totally random it makes the connect noise, then sometimes the disconnect USB noise. Is this a hardware issue or possibly a problem when software/firmware was updated? My phone is totally stock.

Welcome to the forums. It's probably related to the hardware. Try a different cable. If it still makes the noise, then there is a bad connection in the phone itself.
