how do I set app downloads default to usb storage on my tablet running android 4.4

When I try to download and install apps, after giving permissions and clicking install I get the message that there is not enough memory but this is the internal storage, there is more than 12 gigs free in the usb storage on the tablet.

Hello. Apps will only download to the device. You can move many downloaded apps to the sd card if allowed, so you can free up space, but only some/most data is moved from the app, the app itself remains.

Settings - (General)- Apps/Applications Manager - SD Card list or All list - tap for App Info - Move to SD Card.
