You have to flash a 4.4.2 with a kernel date prior to June 3, 2014, root that with Towel Root, then follow How-To Update to N900A_NL1 - 4.4.4 and Kee… | AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note 3 | XDA Forums. There's no root exploit for 4.4.4 yet. (If you install SafeStrap in 4.4.2 and put a 4.4.4 ROM in another slot, you can switch between them by flashing the correct kernel and rebooting. The 4.4.2 kernel is an app you can run when you're in 4.4.4 and the 4.4.4 kernel is a zip you can flash from SafeStrap [which you can only get to with a 4.4.2 kernel]. It's a bit of a pain, but at least we're not locked to accepting an update and being stuck with it.)
