How come some of my photos do not have the album icon when I hold down on them (most do.)?

How come some of my photos do not have the album icon when I hold down on them (most do..)

I have a Nexus 7 with Android 5.0.2. I'm organizing my photos in Albums, by holding down on them then selecting the album icon in the upper right corner then selecting the desired album. Some photos do not show the album icon when I select them?

Welcome to Android Central! Are you looking at the "All Photos" view? Or the "On Device" view? If you're in All Photos, you might be selecting a photo that was shared to you by someone else (and is therefore visible in your Google+ Photos in the cloud), but you might not have the permission to copy it locally to an album.
