How do I turn off data, while leaving cellular on?

How to turn off data, while leaving cellular on.

I'm going out of the country, and would like to avoid heavy data charges while using my phone to accept calls/text messages.

Is there a way to turn off the data (ie, email/facebook/etc doesn't update) but still use the actual phone?

Welcome to the forums. If you go to Settings>Data Usage, you should be able to turn off your mobile data, and keep the cell signal on.
