Why does my screen look black and white or inverted and I can't see anything?

My screen looks black and white or inverted and can't see

It looks like a tv screen in the old days when you lose connection.

Welcome to Android Central! Which device? Does it look like "snow"? That's never a good sign. Either the screen or the motherboard probably failed.
