Why can't my Galaxy S5 get iPhone texts?

Galaxy s5 can't get iPhone texts

Hey! I switched to verizon from ATT on black friday, and realized I can't get any texts from iPhone users. I switched from an HTC, and I've never had an iphone of any kind. My family members had, though, and they don't seem to be having issues as far as I can tell. They can see my texts, but I can't see theirs.

Also--it's the same whether i use verizon-based texting or just generic texting. It's really very annoying, so any help would be appreciated.

Are they sending texts as SMS instead of iMessage?

OP here--I really have no idea? I can try asking. Would that be the issue? Something on their end?
