Gmail contacts all default to video calling on Android phone (Gobii)

After logging into my Google account, all the contacts synced correctly and are there, but the default type is video calling. This means that every time one calls a contact, one has to choose the option not to use video calling. How does one turn off this default?

Welcome to Android Central! Video calling on what--Hangouts? Does your phone have some other video calling app?

Try going to Settings>Apps, tap Menu, then Reset All App Preferences.
