Add to homescreen: How to control where it goes?

Using Chrome and Lollipop, with the stock launcher: When I use Chrome's "Add to homescreen" menu item, it seemingly puts the icon in an arbitrary slot on one of my homescreens. From there I can move the icon to a different place on that homescreen, but I can't figure out: How do I move it to a different homescreen? I thought I could just long press and drag it to the edge of the homescreen to scroll to the next screen, but that doesn't work.

Dragging it to the edge should work. Maybe the other screen is completely full.

Reboot your phone and see if that helps.
