Why is one area of my lock screen on my Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 edition not responsive?

One area of my lock screen on my Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 edition is not responsive.

I recently got a refurbished,white, 16 GB Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 edition tablet off of amazon. I noticed that swipe to unlock will not work on one area of the lock screen. After I unlock it from another area, the whole screen works fine. It just happens on the lock screen. I just want to know if it's something I need to worry about.

Welcome to Android Central! How many different areas can you swipe to unlock? Isn't it usually one isolated area?
