Why won't my HTC One Mini 2 charge?

I have had the phone since september with no problems but in the past month it has stopped connecting to the charger. I first thought this was a problem with the charging cable as it did work when I held it in the phone, so I tried using the samsung charger I had for my previous phone. This did the trick for a while but now when I plug it in it connects for 1 second then disconnects and won't charge. The message on the screen is 'Phone is in USB host mode. Unable to charge phone'. Is there any way to fix this or will it need to be repaired at the original shop?

That's the story right there. One or two of the the charging port pins became disconnected inside the phone. It has to be repaired, and I don't recommend that you do it yourself - it takes experience.
