How to put Audio files onto the Phone without them Going into Music?

A

AC Question

I was attempting to put an audio book onto my phone, but wherever I put the files, the chapters of the book always get mixed in with my music. Any way to have them separate? Thanks!

Welcome to Android Central! An audiobook is still an audio file, and I don't think there are any music player apps that can distinguish them from actual music files. You could use a file manager app to create a blank file called ".nomedia" in the directory where your audiobooks are stored, which instructs the system to ignore that directory when looking for media files to add to its various databases--but that might also make the file invisible to your audiobook player app.
