How can I back up my Google Voice Texts on my computer?

Some months back I transitioned to Google Voice and made Hangouts my default messaging app on my Nexus 4. Everything was great until recently when I tried to back up my text messages to my computer which I do every so often. I was always able to do this through the app Snap Pea. This no longer works and I suspect it is because Snap Pea does not recognize Hangouts as a messaging app.

I have tried to switch back to the default Messaging app but when I do this all my old messages still stay in Hangouts. I thought maybe if I unmerged the SMS messages and Hangouts messages, then the old messages would show up in the default Messaging app. No such luck.

I have found two possible solutions I'm weary about trying and I'm not sure if they will capture my SMS as they seem to be geared more toward Hangouts messages:

I guess I would really prefer a Snap Pea replacement that can handle this function. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Stay with an app you can back up to the computer. For the Hangouts texts, copy and paste. It might be easier to run MyPhoneExplorer, run Hangouts from your PC, copy the texts and paste them into Notebook in the PC. (You can run the phone from the PC with MyPhoneExplorer, including running an app like Hangouts, finding and opening a text and copying it to the PCs clipboard.)

An app may do what you want. Doing it by hand definitely will. You're smarter than an app.
