Why do I get an error message when trying to sync my contacts into Google and Gmail?

Lollipop Help with wireless printing and contacing syncing with Gmail

I have two questions please,
I've spent the last 8 hours reading instructions and forums on how to sync my contacts into google and Gmail.
Its al started when I began receiving the "Unfortunately contacts have stopped" error message and the instructions were to dump the contacts cache and system data. I didn't want to do this until I was certain that I knew my contacts were backed up.
My Galaxy 5 S confirms that it has synced the data with Google/Gmail, contacts, calendar etc... However when I open my Gmail account on my computer and look under the contacts tap, there is not 1 contact listed. I've done this several times to confirm and still nothing. The calendar is syncing fine, but no contacts, documents or photos.

Wireless printing. Everything was working fine until I downloaded Lollipop. I have a HP Office Pro 8610. I've re-installed the Samsung Print Service Plugin and the HP Print Service Plug (which states is Lollipop ready) and when I try to print I get an error message that states "printer is not available". My device is not able to locate the printer wirelessly. I have verified that the IP address is correct in my device, so it can communicate with my S5, but still it won't print.
I have verified that it is not the printer or the router, they both work fine with my other devices.

I am spending too much time trying to figure this out and wondering if I made a poor decision going with an Android. I never had this much trouble with my IPhone 3,4, or 5.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Re: Lollipop Help with wireless printing and contacing syncing with Gmail

Welcome to Android Central! Do you remember if the contacts you entered into the phone were associated with your Google account or your Samsung account? If they weren't associated with Google, then they wouldn't have backed up/synced to your Google account. If they were with your Samsung account, then maybe they synced with some kind of Samsung contact storage in the cloud.

Per the link to thread below, some users are resolving the "Unfortunately, contacts have stopped" error by uninstalling Google + updates and disabling the application. I believe you need to disable automatic updates for it as well.

Here is the link to that thread (make sure to see the last page):

Thank you for responding!
My contacts are associated with a Google account, when I go into contacts, settings, accounts, Google, I see verification on my S5 that my contacts have been synched to my Gmail account, however when I log into my Gmail account my contacts are not there.
What is odd is the only thing that syncs is my calendar, nothing else.

Ok, so I just want to make sure we're on the same page. When you select any of your contacts that don't seem to be syncing, and edit them in the Contacts app, do you see the Google account at the top of the screen?

No, it do see anything that indicates that my contacts are tied to my Google account from the top of the in the top of the Contacts App Screen.
I finally broke down after 30 plus hours of research on the net trying to find a solution to these two issues and I went to the Verizon Store. Waited for about 45 min to talk to this guy who is supposed to be their Android specialist. After 10 minutes we quickly determined that I now know more about this device then he does. Exhausting!!!!!!!!!!
