Why won't my HTC One (m7) recover after update fail?

HTC One (m7) wont recover after update fail - help!

Okay so i just tried to update my htc one and all i got was a freeze frame at the end of the download, when i rebooted i got the red phone with the triangle and ! sign.
Since then i have managed to get into the startup screen and try recovery mode, which just takes meback to the red triangle and keeps rebooting itself.
i am back at startup and it says:

***Locked***
(then details about my phone, yes it's an M7)
HBOOT

and the options are
FASTBOOT
RECOVERY
FACTORY RESET
SIMLOCK
CHECK SMARTSD
IMAGE CRC
SHOW BARCODE

please help, as i dont know what to try next and i dont want to factory reset my phone.

Was it an over the air update? If so, the carrier is responsible - bring it in and ask if they can please reflash the update.

If you downloaded a file and updated the phone yourself, go to XDA Forums, to your carrier's HTC One forum, and see if someone there can help you.
