Welcome to Android Central! What kind of data are you talking about? The ability of an app to save data to the SD card is dependent on each individual app. If the app has the ability to store on the SD card, there will probably be an option in that app's settings to set a default storage location.

"Moving" and app to the SD card (which only move a portion of the app, not the whole thing), is not universally supported, so it depends on the device. If the device does support moving apps to SD, then go to the App Manager, select an app, and look for the Move to SD button. If it's not there, then that particular app doesn't support being moved.

Media files like photos, music files, and videos, can be copied or moved easily with a file manager app (like ES File Explorer), or by connecting the phone to your computer via USB and using Windows Explorer to drag and drop the files.
