Not just too late - there's really nothing left to save by now, except the plastic housing and any plastic buttons. Anything electronic is now scrap.
That said, 1) use the 2-bag method (in the link Belodion gave you) if you're going to be near salt water (I've fished more than one electronic device out of the ocean with no problem) and 2) if you MUST use a phone near salt water without protecting it, carry a pan and alcohol with you. (If you're near the ocean, water isn't your only enemy - there's probably salt and sand in the air, and they'll kill the phone almost as quickly as dropping it into the water. The plastic bags protect it from water, dirt, dust, sand - just about anything except physical damage like fire or car tires.)
