Why is my nexus 5 taking so long to charge?

I have a 10 month old nexus 5 running android version 5.0.1. My phone is taking too long to charge. It takes nearly 3.5-4 hours to fully charge my nexus 5. I use the stock charger which is supplied with the phone itself. What should be done?

Probably need a higher rated charger. But I don't think there is a problem with the charger as it is the original charger which came with the phone and earlier it used to work fine. I think there is some problem with the phone itself.

Could be the battery going bad. Did you just do the update to Lollipop 5.0.1?

Also, the USB lead or the USB port may have become damaged. Check also for dirt in the port.
