    When I'm out of range my wifi turns off and when I am back in range I have to connect the phone back to the same saved wifi

    What phone? Do you have a setting that turns off WiFi when disconnected? If so, you might want to disable that. A disconnected WiFi doesn't use much power, so by turning it off, you really don't save much.

    If that doesn't help, you can use automation apps like Tasker or Llama to toggle your WiFi... But something has to be set up to trigger that.

    I just leave WiFi on and it reconnects OK. You might try WiFi Matic and see if it helps trip your WiFi automatically for you.
