Virus on galaxy s5???

A

AC Question

was about to read an online article on my galaxy s5 and got a message warning me that I have four viruses on my phone and that I need to install apus (??) antivirus software or something in order to save my photos, contacts, etc. Is this for real or not? I don't know what to click, it says if i don't click on what they tell me to, my phone is compromised, but i am too nervous to actually follow what they're telling me cuz I'm afraid it is a virus itself. Help!!

Is this when your on he web and or your home screen? If so it should be just an ad. I get those from time to time, but it's advertisement.

Welcome to the forums. Don't click it. The odds of you actually having a virus on your device is minimal. If your apps are loaded form Amazon or Play, the possibility is so small. Consider it like those pop up ads on PCs.

Anytime you see a popup like that on your smartphone its no different then when you see them on your desktop/laptop on a web page, just a scam trying to get into your device.
