Restoring your previous version of Windows?

When I went to boot up my pc a message say "Restoring your previous version of Windows" then after like 5-7 minutes of waiting it rebooted itself and gave me another message on my desktop saying "Couldn't update to Windows 10 Technical Preview" even though I've been running windows 10 for a few days now.
Is it an update for Windows 10 TP? If so then why did it restore the previous version?
