How can I get documents to download from my email account

For the past 2 days, any document I want to open attached to an e-mail results in a blank screen and the error message 'Whoops!
There was a problem while previewing this document'. This is for different documents. I have tried restoring previous settings - but to no avail. The e-mail provider is Virgin, and I usually open in Google chrome. I have deleted temporary internet files etc

Is this happening while on cellular data or while on WiFi or maybe both? What device are you using?
