Wi-Fi issues

Just wondering if there's something I can do to fix my problem. I have a wireless router in my house, and a range extender in my garage. If I turn my phones WiFi on in the house it has full strength, but when I go out to the garage it drops down. While I'm out there if I cycle the WiFi on my phone off and then on it goes to full strength again, but when I go back to the house it drops. Anyone know of anything I can do to fix this? My nexus 5 did it as well, but my iPhone never did. I'm using a oneplus one if it matters.

Maybe try turning on the "Avoid Weak Connections" (if available) in Settings>Wi-fi, then Menu>Advanced. This setting can sometimes cause problems as well, though.

I just tried it, with a reboot and no change. I also tried to set it to 2.4ghz only and that didn't help. I'm assuming it must be something to do with the range extender
