[Galaxy S5] Why do some of my MP3s have choppy playback on the phone only?

A

AC Question

A couple of my mp3s play fine on the PC, but not on the phone. Within a second or two the track sounds like it might be slowing down, then the rest of the playback has little chirps and hiccups, and the song skips nonstop.

It also reports the length incorrectly (like 26 minutes for a 6 minute song).

I tried the stock music player and VLC, same result. The bitrate and bit depth are identical to many other mp3s that play fine.

Any ideas how to fix this?

just realized I wasn't logged in when I posted... anyway thank you for your reply. That could be it... I'll try a fresh card. It's been a while since I had to do anything like a backup, what's the best way to transfer everything to the new SD card with minimal hassle?

Update if anyone else has the same problem... not sure if it's the faulty card or not but definitely some issue with copying the file from windows to the phone. When I downloaded the exact same file directly (rather than copying it over from windows) it worked fine. Maybe by downloading, it wrote to a different part of the card that isn't failing.
