How do I stop Messages from sending me email notifications?

I am recently converted from iOS to Android (Samsung S6, Lollipop). I think I got everything figured out, except for one particularly annoying thing that I cannot seem to fix: every time I receive a text message (in the native Messages app) I also receive an email with that same text. As a result, my inbox is filled with dozens of texts every day. How do I switch this off? I tried everything! (Well, except the one thing that will stop it.)

Welcome to the forums. Is there an option in Settings of the messaging app to send a copy to your email?

It sounds like you may be using Google Voice for text messages since you can reply via email as well.

Also, it might be a carrier setting. Which carrier do you use? Log into your account on the web and see if there is a setting there to send an email for each text message.

I definitely agree with Almeuit and Diddy.

My Google voice does that, but not the native app, unless I synced it with GVoice trough Sprint.

Go to Email > More > Settings > Click on the account > Scroll down and uncheck "Sync Messages"

Fixed it, thanks to suggestion #6 - thanks so much, Carl! I understood the "sync messages" to be referring to email messages and therefor did not untick. They should use clearer lingo.
