I have a 7 month old Samsung S5 that has rewarded me with the black screen of death. It has an alphanumeric screen lock on it and I would like to retrieve as much data off of it before I send it for repair. It is not synced to the cloud... any ideas

Unfortunately, the only ways I know of getting data from a phone require the screen to be on and working

If it was saved in external memory, then a recovery software can easily recover your data. all you need is take the SD card out and plug it with a card reader, and let the computer detect your computer by the card reader. Clikc here for further information
if it was saved in internal memory, then I have nothing can do for you. maybe you need fix your phone to take out data. I think.
