How can I stop notifications when on the phone?

Notifications when on the phone

When I am talking on the phone and get an email or text it vibrates then rings in my ear. This is really annoying. How can I stop this. I want the notifications when I'm not on the phone, just tired of getting my ear drum blasted out. Thanks.

Sorry if this is already on the forums, but I could not figure out the wording to make it come up.

call settings> call alerts> uncheck notify during calls
