Why does my phone think I keep on touching the home and recent list button?

I recently dropped my Droid Maxx XT1080. The glass is cracked in the top left corner but the display is normal. However, the phone constantly thinks i'm pressing either of those two buttons. Why is this and are there any possible solutions for my problem?

Welcome to Android Central! The impact of the fall probably damaged more than just the glass. There can be significant damage without a whole lot of external evidence. You probably need to bring the phone to a repair shop.
