Issues with texting on Moto G?

I have a Moto G and use the hangouts app, I'm not sure if its my phone or my app acting up. Yesterday I tarted receiving multiple copies of different texts from people and I would receive copies of the same text from a person throughout the day. I got texts out of order and randomly throughout the day, often several hours after they were sent. I didn't even receive some messages that a person sent to me. I've tried turning it on and off and rebooting it and it continues to act up
