I water damaged my Nexus 4 a year ago and at the time, I opened it up to let it dry out. It still wasn't working after a few days so I gave up and left it disassembled. I've mustered up the hope that I might be able to get it to work now. '

With the battery plugged in, I'm able to get it to the point where I feel the boot vibration and see the Google logo for second, then it restarts and does the same thing. I completely disconnected the battery and tried to reset the bootloader (power + down volume) while plugging in the charger and got further to the bootloader screen for about a second. Then it shut off and restarted.

Before I go out and try my luck on a new battery, I'd like to know if I can even test the Nexus 4 with just the charger and WITHOUT the battery plugged in at all (battery terminal disconnected).

Can someone with a Nexus 4 document what happens when the battery lead is disconnected and you attempt to boot(normal and bootloader) with the charger plugged in?

    Thank you!!!

Update: I ended up purchasing a new battery and it all works! Pretty amazing and I guess I was super lucky. So to conclude, the Nexus 4 does not run without a battery plugged in, so that this not a sufficient test to see if it the rest of the device is okay.
