How do I extend the notification time on the lock screen with Lollipop update?

Notification of new texts only stays lit for about 3 seconds and screen goes dark again. How can you/where do you change that setting so the notification stays lit for like 10+ seconds as before the "upgrade"?

Also - how do I get my alarm to display on my lock screen? (As the display of the alarm was automatic before this horrible "upgrade")
