Now I have a question.. About Hangouts

I have my Note 4 like I like it. When my phone goes to sleep, it is in very deep sleep as you can see from my screenshot.

I re-enabled Hangouts yesterday (it has been disabled since I got the phone) and my WiFi would turn on and stay on and the phone woke a lot. I didn't do a screenshot of my battery graph with that, but I was not at 97% to 100% battery when I got up in the morning and there was an almost continual line under my WiFi (set to not stay on when phone is sleeping) and several wakes on the graph.

I couldn't find anything in Hangouts settings to stop that. I disabled Hangouts last night and it was back to the same as the screenshot I'm posting here.

Any ideas?

Let me get this straight. You're saying that when you use Hangouts, or simply have it enabled on your device, it switches on your wifi? And your wifi runs all the time?
Hmmmmmmmmm.
Could that be something to do with that Smart Network Select thing I've heard about, but can't quite remember? In Settings, Wifi, Advanced?

Well no, it doesn't switch me, it wakes my WiFi. I keep WiFi turned on all the time, but in the advanced settings I have it not to scan and not to send location info, and to stay off when the phone is sleeping.

When I enabled Hangouts, that night when I was asleep, according to the graph, my WiFi was waking and scanning most of the entire time. Also I got a lot of wakes on the battery graph with Hangouts enabled. There is a smart WiFi app from AT&T but I have that disabled.

This is my WiFi advanced screen.

I tested last night, re-enabled Hangouts and this time, once I hibernated my phone, it didn't wake and WiFi didn't wake either. No sure what caused it the other night since Hangouts was the only thing I had changed.
