Galaxy S4 lollipop. why are my edits and collages being saved as .png?

I made a collage using Gallery. When I tried to share it with my family, a message said something like "it was not possible to save the photo". In My Files I found the collage and it has the extension .png. This has happened only with the lollipop update. Is there any way to save a collage as a .jpg? Or to change the extension?At the risk of saying too much, all of my recent edits also have .png extensions. Sharing doesn't work with .pngs.

I'm having the same issue ... use the Blipfoto app and any pic edited to balance, crop etc saves as .png and won't work. How do we change back to .jpg?? Definitely do not want this! Also, any edited photo puts it out of order from the original date. Do not like the updates at all.
