HTC One Mini does not charge, why?

So, my phone fell, but it was in it's case and not more than 2ft. Tonight I tried to charge it, the end of the usb charger got hot then the usb port. It began smelling funny, like it burnt. Tried different android chargers, no reaction then mine again and it got hot again. Why?

Welcome to the forums. There was probably some damage done to the USB port. That would explain why it got warm.

It sounds like a short in the port or further down the line (the motherboard). Bring it to a shop for an estimate, but something is going to have to be replaced.
