Note 3 screen went black why?

Black screen but works

It's possible the Brightness slider auto check button was tripped, mine can occasionally go virtually black, especially in sunshine. Try to pull down the shade and feel for the check box with the screen guide below. The darker one is how it looks now inside a car in sunshine.
The brightness slider won't appear if the battery is below 5%.

Otherwise you possibly have a more serious problem due possibly to a fall, water or other issue. Can you give any more detail you remember.
