Battery overheating on lollipop

My xperia z1 has just upgraded to lollipop, but the battery overheats and the phone now keeps crashing. I have tried a factory reset but it still happens. Any ideas?

Welcome to the forums!

Have you done a complete charge since the upgrade yet? A new phone and an upgrade, always seem to get hot with the first charge. I've never had one crash.

The other option is to try a new battery.
