If it was refurbed by Samsung, you probably can't. But if it was, it's the same as a new phone, except that every function was checked by hand (which is better than the normal computer test).
If it was refurbed by a sloppy refurbisher, there's no carrier plastic on the screen (my AT&T said "texting can wait", or whatever their slogan was back then - something about not texting and driving), it might show a phone number before you put a SIM card in it, a file recovery app (you'd have to root first) might recover pictures, the box and manual might not be the same one the carrier has with new phones. It depends on what the refurbisher was sloppy with.
