Will my virgin mobile phone still have wifi capabilities in Europe?

AC Question

I am going to Europe this summer and found that my phone carrier does not have service in the countries I am visiting (Spain, Italy, and Greece) However, I was wondering if my wifi would still work in these countries. Would I be able to access the internet from my android device?

Wifi is the same internationally (and probably in space too, once we get up there). It has nothing to do with the type of phone, the carrier, the continent. (American phones probably won't be able to use channels 12 and 13, because they can't be used in North America, but can be in Europe - that would be your only problem, if someone has a router set up on one of those 2.)

BTW, if you get a phone service like Vonage or Ooma, there are Android apps that let you make (and take) calls on your US number anywhere you have internet access. So you can call someone when you're in Europe, and be using a US phone number. (And it's wifi, so it's free.) They can call you on that number too, and your phone app will ring.
