I have KitKat now on my phone but I don't like that when I touch anywhere on the screen the capacitive buttons light up. I want them to light up only when I touch them but I don't see anything like this in settings.

Welcome to Android Central! Which phone? If you don't see an option for that in the settings, then you probably would have to root the phone in order to be able to do that.

That's not a very common phone, so I'm not sure if there's a successful root exploit available for it. Check out XDA.
