Not android related, but is the calibrating new batteries thing a myth?

AC Question

Had to retire an old 6 cell laptop battery from a laptop, and replaced it with a newer (aftermarket) 9 cell. I've been hearing online that I need to allow my battery to drain to a certain amount, charge it completely, and repeat three times. Is that really necessary?

Welcome to the forums. I'm not so sure about that. Unless if the manufacturer stated doing this, I would do that once, and then charge at about 40% remaining.
