On my new Samsung Galaxy S 4 I lose my restored contacts. I

I can't figure out why my restored contacts disappear after an hour or so. It happens repeatedly. I can only find the master sync which is on. I can't seem to find the place/control that contacts are synced. Any help would be appreciated.
