I have a Samsung Galaxy Centura which was reconditioned. I have been having problems of late with the phone not responding and needing to turn it off and on to get it working again.

Welcome to Android Central! It can be hard to say for sure. If you have an SD card inserted, try unmounting it (in Settings>Storage) and removing it, since a corrupt file on the card can cause various problems.

It could also be an app that is causing instability--try booting into Safe Mode to see if the behavior goes away. The steps for the S4 probably work for the Centura: Restart the Device in Safe Mode Samsung Galaxy S 4 | Verizon Wireless

Ultimately, it might be a hardware problem, since it's a reconditioned phone. Is it still under warranty?
