Why won't my new chromecast complete connection?

Trying to set up my chromecast from a Verizon Motorola cell phone - when I told it set up to chromecast it went to a screen that says connecting to chromecast 9035, but has not progressed past that point for 15 minutes.

Hello All! I got my car dock today, but am still waiting for my media dock, so I am gonna use the free dock app that was mentioned a few threads earlier. My question is, if I now use this as my alarm clock, and the screen is on all night, will this shorten the life of my phone..screen specifically?? TIA!
