Texting option missing using favorites ?

Before upgrading to lollipop using the favorites on the contact screen I could choose to call a favorite contact or text them. With lollipop when I choose a favorite it autodials that person rather than giving me a choice to call or text. With a large phone book this is a real pain. Is there a fix or an app to click on favorites and bring up a screen with a choice of call or text rather than autodial? Help or hints ,,, class of 66

Which phone do you have? In my phone that auto dial happens only on the dialer app. In the contacts app after selecting a favorite I have the choice to call, text or use any other account associated with that contact.
