How do I get apps from old phone to new?

Droid Maxx died. Got a Droid Turbo. do apps sync like contacts or do I need to retrieve each one? a couple that I tried to install sat "installed" but not on this Turbo.

You'll need to reinstall them one by one.

When you setup your new phone, during the process Google will ask you if you want to restore your apps, and if so from what previous configuration. If you have several device setups still there you can pick from them or start fresh. This will start to auto download the apps you had on your last device. Keep in mind it will likely still update the apps you want to disable so you will need to remove the installed udpates and disable what you don't want.
