AC Question

Hi friends..
I have Micromax Canvas2Colour (A120).. It has 8gb ROM & 1Gb RAM... I have install 8-10 apps (FB, Whatsapp, games etc..)..
Now when I open apps area from settings, I see Phone storage: 787MB used & 121 MB free.. And I am unable to install new apps in my fone..
Now, My question is Can I use the full 8GB ROM / phone storage or the free space (3.75GB) to install apps ?? Is there any way to do this ??

Welcome to Android Central! 8 GB ROM (i.e. Internal Storage) means that you probably only have around 5 GB available to you, since 3 GB is usually taken up by the OS. Since the phone tells you your "Phone Storage" is only about 1 GB, that means that those 5 GB of available storage is actually partitioned into a Phone Storage area (which is presumably where apps are installed) and an "Internal SD" area (which acts like an SD card--and which means you can't install apps directly to it). See this guide for more info: http://forums.androidcentral.com/am...roid-memory-how-deal-low-memory-warnings.html

The only way to increase the amount of storage is to redesign the partitioning of the storage (ROM) of the device, and anyone who could do that wouldn't be here asking questions, he'd be developing an unlocker for locked bootloaders or something like that. (Hashcode is at that level - and he wrote SafeStrap before going to work for the ARA project - which was a huge step up for him and a disaster for the rest of us.)

You simply cannot use every bit of space to install apps. A certain minimum amount must be left free for system operation or the phone will become unstable.

Install this simple little app called Storage Truth. It's very small and will install in very limited space. It will tell you how much space you actually have left for installing apps:

To make space you can:
Delete some texts or emails. If you really have lots, this can help.
Uninstall app updates.
Uninstall apps.

Android since v1.0. Linux since 2001.
