My Galaxy is frozen and will not even turn off. What to do?

I was on line and it just froze up. I've tied every button -- power off, return to home, plug it into the AC to recharge, etc. Nothing is happening.

This has never happened before.

Welcome to Android Central! So it's frozen on some screen, and you can't shut the phone off? You can usually force a power off by pressing and holding Power for about 10-15 seconds. Or you could just pull the battery for 10 seconds, then reinsert it and power back on.
