There is a little metal key looking thing that came in the box with our new phones. Does anyone know what this is for?

Probably to open the SIM slot. You put the long straight end into the little hole in the SIM tray and push slightly and the tray will open.

It's to open the sim card slot, some galaxy s6 models have quite a stiff catch so you might have to push the tool in quite hard. Don't worry it will open the slot before it does any damage to the phone

Ah, I attached a SIM tray opener to my keyring several months ago, so that I'd always be prepared. I've never had to use it.

It also works well when you're trying to open the back of your phone.. say to get to your SIM card slot or your SD card slot.;use the rounded part not the Pokey part ..slide it in that little slot and pop it open.
