The best is the Otterbox Defender. (Mine got thrown against a wall with no problem.) The outermost shell isn't hard (although the case itself is), it's thick silicone rubber, which absorbs a LOT of abuse. (I dropped the phone, face down, anout 3 feet onto a hardwood floor. The only thing that suffered was my adrenaline level.) And you'd probably need medical attention if you broke the holster with your hands.
